Week 8: Oct. 3 - Oct. 7
* Fri, Oct. 7th - Pets at Flag Salute Assembly
* The 3rd Grade Snack Shop is Thurs, Oct. 20th
(We will also sell snacks at the Family Movie Night on Fri, Oct. 21st- Students volunteer for shifts before the movie)
Math - Continue with Unit 1 - Continue with Multiplication and Division
Language Arts - Begin reading "The Lemonade Crime" (sequel of Lemonade War)
Writing - New Writing Prompt about the Snack Project - Narrative Style
History - We will take a little break from History this week to focus on the Snack Project - However, we will take some time to discuss what we've learned while out in our community
Group Project - The SNACKS & DATE have been CHOSEN! So next steps are for students to calculate how much we need and what price they want to sell their items for, also the team advertiser will be working on a logo and the group will be deciding on a shop name. Data Consultants will be working on making graphs to represent survey data, while writing specialists prepare a shop slogan.
** I'm hoping to have a sign up for snacks and quantities (for the Snack Project) ready for you before next weekend -- Please keep in mind this is a donation and we appreciate anything you can contribute. You should only get snacks (items) for the team that your child is on.
** Homework this week includes - Reading (10 min), Summary (5 min), Cursive (T & TH) & Math (Due Daily)

National Community Day on 9/26, Two field trips - 9/27 & 9/29, and Grandparents Day Lunch on 9/30

Writing - Working on Homework Writing Example #2 - "The Hero"- Narrative
History - Community Unit cont... We are learning the history behind Anderson's Pea Soup -- in addition to the field trip on 9/29 I will be announcing the location of the 9/29 field trip this week so student can get some background information, and we will be looking into the history of our school as well.
Group Project - This week students will continue to brainstorm snack ideas for the Snack Project and Data Consultants are going to help me make the survey's for the school.
** Upcoming Field Trip on Sept. 27th & Sept. 29th - Permission Form being sent home on Tuesday this week - Due this Friday at the latest! Please circle "Yes" if you can be a parent driver/chaperone for one or both -- I will contact you in the next week about getting a seat count and copies of Driver's License and Insurance & signing the Chaperone MOU
